One of Maryland’s revered riding instructors, Joyce Richardson (77), died November 30 of complications from a stroke and was memorialized this past Saturday, December 15, 2013 at Epiphany Episcopal Church in Timonium.

Miss Richardson began teaching riding lessons in 1956. In 1965, she founded Dayspring Riding School in the Phoenix-Jarrettsville area of Baltimore County. Miss Richardson was teaching a lesson when she suffered the stroke on July 10, according to barn manager Wendy Marchant.
