Meet the 2024 Sunrise at Old Hilltop Pimlico Tour Guides!

first published in the May 2024 Equiery It is that time of year again when live racing in Maryland returns to Baltimore’s Pimlico Racecourse. Racing fans of all ages get a chance to tour the historic facility, which first opened its doors on October 25, 1870, during the Sunrise Tours. One Wild Punch has had many careers throughout his life. He started out at Penn National where he won twice for earnings of $21,692 before being retired and retrained as a show horse. "Thai" had a few homes after the track before ending up with Hailey Johnson of En-Tice-Ment Stables. Together they saw success on the local circuit in the hunter and equitation classes. His show career ended in 2017 due to being "accident prone" according to Johnson. Last year, while enjoying semi-retirement, one of the En-Tice-Ment lesson horses threw a shoe and Johnson pulled Thai out of the field to fill in. He quickly became a camp favorite and now teaches all ages of riders. ... See MoreSee Less
