Mystic Strike took over the lead in the Maryland Steeplechase Association Governor’s Cup series for Horse of the Year by winning the My Lady’s Manor Amateur Timber Stakes last weekend in Monkton. Ridden by Mark Beecher for owners Upland Partners and trainer Todd McKenna, Mystic Strike won by 1 1/4 lengths over Blair Wyatt’s Witor.

Jockey Hadden Frost picked up two wins at the Manor to move up in all three rider standings. He now sits in third place behind leader Eric Poretz and Beecher in second. Frost’s wins came aboard Schoodic and Political Theatre, both trained by Jack Fisher. Schoodic, owned by Mrs. John. R.S. Fisher, won the John Rush Streett Memorial Amateur Maiden Timber by a head over Satish (Bruton Street-US). Political Theatre won by a length in the Thomas H. Voss Memorial Amateur Maiden Timber for owners Hyggelig Haven LLC and is now leading the Novice Timber Horse standings.

Prime Prospector and Paul O’Neill took home the John D. Schapiro Memorial Amateur Apprentice Timber putting them in the lead for the Amateur Apprentice Timber Horse & Rider title. Prime Prospector is trained by Todd Wyatt and owned by Peter A. Jay.
