Yesterday the Maryland Department of Agriculture confirmed a case of West Nile Virus in a buggy horse in St. Mary’s County. The horse is symptomatic but alive.

The horse is a 6-year-old Standardbred gelding who lives at a private facility. He first exhibited symptoms on September 21. It is unknown at this time how many other horses have been exposed.

This the third confirmed case of West Nile Virus in Maryland this year.
