On Monday, November 10, the Maryland Department of Agriculture confirmed a positive case of strangles in a male Oldenburg weanling.
The colt is at a private facility in Calvert County. He began showing symptoms on November 5 and has been under an official quarantine since then.
No other horses are believed to have been exposed.
