On April 16, the Equine Disease Communication Center reported that a boarding facility in Montgomery County has a confirmed case of strangles. The case was confirmed by the Maryland Department of Agriculture and attending veterinarian. According to EDCC, the facility houses 73 horses which have all been exposed. As of April 16, only one horse is confirmed as infected with strangles. Further testing of the additional horses is being done this week. The facility has issued a voluntary quarantine.
