The day has finally come for the start of the 2017 Retired Racehorse Project Thoroughbred Makeover and Symposium. Located at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY, 381 horses are being shown by 341 trainers from 38 states and Canada and the United Kingdom. The majority of the entries are competing as professionals (55%) while 13% are juniors (18 and under) and 32% are amateurs. The largest discipline represented this year is Eventing with 100 entries. Second larges is Dressage with 89 and then Show Hunters with 88.

Maryland is being represented by 22 trainers with 24 horses. Rebecca Walters and Christie Davis are competing horses in Show Jumping. Samuel Batters is entered in the Field Hunter category while Neil Agate is in Polo. Kayla Muller and Jennifer McGee are competing in Dressage. Kathleen Dibben and Amber Markley are both showing in Competitive Trail. Markley also has an entry in Eventing.

Also competing in the Eventing category are Grace Edwards, Hillary Robertson, Teresa Martinoli, Sally Shirley and Dyanna Capuano. Capuano also is competing in Show Hunters with Brittany Tice, Sierra Weatherly, Beverly Strauss and Jane Blayman.
