Some much needed good news for our racing Thoroughbred breeders came across the wires this morning.

Maryland-bred, multiple-graded stakes-winning stallion Post Time (Frosted x Vielsalm (Fairbanks) will stay in Maryland to stand at Northview Stallion Station for a first season stud fee of $4,000 per live foal.

Post Time was a stakes winner in every year of his career. He also placed second in the Grade 1 Breeder’s Cup Dirt Mile and the 2024 Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap, and placed third in the 2024 Grade 1 Whitney Stakes. He won 10 of 11 starts at Laurel Park and finished second there this year in the Maryland Million Classic. He earned $1.489 million at the track.

Post Time was bred in Maryland by Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Bowman, Dr. Brooke Bowman and Milton P. Higgins III, and trained by Brittany Russell. His owner, Ellen Charles, said the horse was:

“a joy to own from the start – a beautiful, kind horse with immense talent. To see him come home to Maryland and stand at Northview, where so many great stallions have launched their careers, is tremendously gratifying. I hope Maryland breeders will support him the way he supported us every time he ran.”

Post Time’s pedigree is promising from the sport horse perspective as well as the racing perspective. His dam’s sire is Fairbanks, and the Maryland-bred sport horses in the Fairbanks line include Little Bear (dressage), Open the Bank (dressage), and Black Lab (eventing).

His grand-sire is Tapit. Maryland-bred sport horses in the Tapit line include, BandfromtheBar (eventing), Bandolini (eventing), Ferocious Storm (eventing), Manley Cross (hunters and jumper), and Maybe Someday (eventing).
