Maryland-bred Thoroughbred Romeo, a 2023 colt by Honor A. P. out of Fancy Love (Not for Love), sold to bloodstock agent Mahmud Mouni for $1.7 million at the July 8 Fasig-Tipton Horses of Racing Age Sale in Lexington, Kentucky — the highest price for any horse in the sale.
The colt was bred by John C. Davidon and trained by Jerry Robb of No Guts No Glory Farm in Woodbine. He has started only three times and is fresh off a record-setting win in the Bashford Manor Stakes at Churchill Downs. Blood-Horse is reporting that Romeo will be sent to Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen, with the long-term plan of racing in the Middle East over the winter and into the spring.
Good luck Romeo! And congratulations to all of his Maryland connections.
