On October 26, Maryland-bred Trotter Call Me Goo won the Breeders Crown Mare Trot. She is Maryland horse in every respect — Maryland-sired (GooGoo GaaGaa) and bred in Maryland (Brandywine) by a Maryland resident (William Roberts).

She is the first Maryland-sired horse to win a Breeders Crown Final.

According to Gina Maybee of the Cloverleaf Standardbred Owners’ Association, “the Breeders Crown for Harness Racing is comparable to the Breeders Cup in Thoroughbred Racing. A championship series of harness races for trotters and pacers, divided by the traditional categories of age, gender and gait—showcasing the stars of the Standardbred sport. It is the richest series in harness racing, disbursing purse monies in excess of $230 million over a 40-year span.”

The Breeders Crown Mare Trot was Call Me Goo’s 23rd win in her three-year racing win. Her total earnings to date are $936,518.

Congratulations to all of her Maryland connections.
