Marilyn Little & RF Demeter move into first place in the CCI3* at FHI

After an exciting day of cross-country action at the 2016 Dutta Corp. Fair Hill International Maryland native Marilyn Little continues to have a hold of the top two spots in the CCI3*, however the order of her two mares has switched. Marilyn and RF Scandalous were one of the first riders out onto the course this afternoon and jumped around clean but added 4.8 time faults to their dressage score. They stayed in the lead until the end of the day when Marilyn rode RF Demeter around the course to jump clean and inside the time. Thus, RF Demeter moved into the first place spot with RF Scandalous dropping down to second.

Emily Beshear (VA) and Shame on the Moon moved up from sixth place into third when they also jumped clean and added only 1.2 time faults to their dressage score. Moving into tomorrow’s show jumping phase, Marilyn and RF Demeter are sitting on a 44.6% while she and RF Scandalous have a 46.3% and Emily is less than a rail off with a 48.1%.

In her second run around the FHI CCI3*, Savannah Fulton (FL/Finksburg) and Captain Jack were one of the few riders to jump double clean and moved up 20 places into the 23rd spot. Lillian Heard (Poolesville) and Arundel jumped clean but had 14 time faults, which moved them down to 28th place. Colleen Rutledge (Frederick) had a good go with her first CCI3* ride of the day, Escot 6 and moved up to 29th place after jumping clean and only earning 1.6 time faults. Unfortunately, she and Roulette fell at the first of the two Red Cottages at fence 22. Both horse and rider walked away fine from the fall.

Thirty-two horse/rider combinations head into show jumping tomorrow afternoon for the CCI3*.

Jennie Brannigan and Stella Artois move into first place in the CCI2* after today's cross-country.

Lauren Kieffer (VA) had a good go aboard Landmark’s Monaco to move up into the third place spot.

From Maryland, it was Grace Fulton of Finksburg that held nothing back in her first run around the FHI CCI2* course. She and Wild Orange jumped around clean with 12.8 time faults to move up into 19th place, making them the only Maryland pair in the top 20 of the two-star. Cary Chavis (DC) and Game On also jumped clean with 14 time faults, moving up to a tie for 27th place. Long time FHI volunteer, Ellie Luther of Port Republic unfortunately was eliminated on course for too many run-outs.

In the CCI2*, there will be 36 horse/rider combinations moving on to Sunday’s show jumping phase.

The final horse inspections are set to start at 8:30 am with the CCI2* show jumping beginning at 10 am and the CCI3* show jumping starting at 1:30 pm.
