Morgan Rosia of Germantown was one of the big winners over the weekend at the Capital Challenge Horse Show, held at the Prince George’s Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro. Rosia won the third annual EMO Insurance/United States Hunter Jumper Association 3’3” Jumping Seat Medal Final-East.

Rosia competed against 114 competitors in three phases of competition including flat, gymnastics and jumping. The flat and gymnastics classes took place on Friday, September 28. After those first two phases, Rosia was sitting in second place with a score of 220. Sophia Mitchell of NC narrowly held the lead with a score of 220.6.

On Saturday, competitors rode in reverse order of standings. Rosia and Clearano Z earned a 81.90 from judges Jimmy Torano and Steve Wall to take the lead. Her final overall score was 383.80 however two other riders sat close to her score forcing additional testing. Nicole Dorwart (PA) had a 383.00 and Texie Loyd (FL) had a 381.90.

The shortened work-off course did not change the final standings and Rosia was awarded the win.
