State budget cuts forced the University of Maryland Extension Office to retain only one of their two nutrient management plan writers. The remaining plan writer will be responsible for the entire county. Some farmers may find themselves having to look for a new advisor or becoming certified to write their own plans due to the amount of clients one extension agent will be trying to work with. Even without the funding for the program, the Frederick extension office will continue to do all it can to help producers and the agricultural community through the challenges.
