On Sunday, Aug. 31, the Frederick 4-H Therapeutic Riding barn and tack room burned accidentally. Volunteers were on site at the time and all the horses were moved safely out of harms way.
Frederick 4-H reported on its Facebook page:
“We lost everything including hay, feed, tack, equipment, all of it. We lost all our special adaptive equipment that was handmade by us for specific special needs use. We are in shock . . . . The fire did not damage the feeding barn or the indoor. We will feed and operate out of that space for now. Most of our horses are pasture horses.”
The 4-H is setting up a Go Fund Me campaign and donations can be left at the door. They are in need of bits, tack, bridles, fly spray, English girths, and pony halters, among other things.
If you would like to donate funds but do not want to use Go Fund Me, checks can be made out to FC4HTRP at mailed to 11515 Angleberger Rd, Thurmont, Md. 21788.
