The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration announced on December 13 that livestock and insect haulers can continue to run on paper logs instead of the new Electronic Logging Devise “until further notice.” In addition, FMCSA stated on its website that livestock transporters do not need to carry documentation about the exemption.

Livestock/insect haulers had been exempt from the new mandate until September 30 of this year but then that exemption had been extended through December 7. That deadline was moved again to December 21 but now, FMCSA has stated the exemption will continue indefinitely.
