Today, February 8, the Equine Disease Communications Center (EDCC) reported that a 15-year-old Thoroughbred gelding used for pleasure riding has tested positive for EHV/respiratory. The horse is at a private facility in Cecil County and has been quarantined. Twenty-six other horses have been exposed.
Also today, EDCC reported a confirmed case of equine influenza in a 15-year-old Thoroughbred gelding at a 26-horse private facility in Cecil County.
Lastly, EDCC reported today that the Maryland Department of Agriculture has released the quarantine on a neurological case of EHV at a training facility in Cecil County.
The Equiery confirmed with the Maryland State Vet this morning that the new EHV-respiratory case has no implications for intra-state travel restrictions.
