Detonation of most consumer fireworks is currently prohibited under Maryland law.

HB 1502 would allow the purchase, possession, and use of consumer fireworks as long as they are not used within 150 feet of a barn or fenced pasture owned by someone else. Their use would be allowed within 150 to 300 feet of a barn or pasture with 72 hours notice to the barn or pasture owner. There have been numerous reported incidents of injuries to horses from detonation of fireworks.
