October Horse Month has arrived! This is the month when the Maryland horse industry comes together to celebrate — itself! We cheer each other on at international competitions and local national and regional championships across disciplines as varied as eventing, hunter/jumpers, jousting, and dressage. Our numerous venues take advantage of October’s perfect riding weather to host schooling shows and clinics all over the state, from lead-line all the way up to the highest level of sport.
We also boast numerous educational opportunities. We have festivals. We have Hallowe’en trail rides. In a nutshell, we have a ball. Check out our Calendar of Events for details.
This issue also includes good advice from and for farriers and MDA’s month-by-month schedule of farm stewardship tasks for the entire calendar year.
And of course we have pictures. Plenty of pictures! We have O&A from the Fair Hill Races, O&A International, and O&A in the Winner’s Circle, along our O&A page of Maryland horse people doing Maryland horse things.
