Rodeo at PG County Fair

from Laura Sanner

The Prince George’s County Fair held a rodeo (conducted by the Twisted K Rodeo Production Company) on Friday, September 9 and again on Sunday, September 11. I attended the second one. This was a first for both my horse (Flare) and I, as we usually just run in NBHA, IBRA, and open shows, but I thought to just go ahead and give it a try.

It was definitely a different experience for us, with the closed in spaces, bulls, blasting music and a crowd, but we both did our jobs and was graced with a time of 14.6, putting us in first place out of about 14 other girls. It came as a total surprise, I was all prepared to just participate so I could say I was in a rodeo, but to win it against some very tough competition! I feel very blessed, me and my little Thoroughbred mare have been working toward a moment like that for almost eight years!
