Maryland Girls Interscholastic Polo Team

Last month, the Maryland Horse Industry Board honored two interscholastic teams from Maryland who recently won 2017 national polo championships with its July and August Touch of Class Award. The winning national women’s interscholastic polo team was comprised of coaches and teammates from Garrison Forest School in Reisterstown. The award was presented at the Maryland Horse Council barbecue on September 9 at the Congressional Polo Club in Poolesville to Cindy Halle, coach; Kaycie Campbell, assistant coach; team members Lila Bennett, Hannah Reynolds, Olivia Reynolds and Emily Wiley.
Maryland Interscholastic Boys Polo Team
The next day the winning national men’s interscholastic polo team received the award following a game at the Maryland Polo Club grounds at Ladew Gardens in Monkton. The award was presented to Kelly Wells, coach; team members Jack McLean, Parker Pearce, Aidan Tydings and Brennan Wells. The men’s team operates out of the Maryland Polo Club as well as Wells’ Marlan Farm in Freeland.
The Horse Board presents the award monthly to Marylanders and their horses who achieve national and international recognition. The award began in September 2011 named in honor of the Maryland-bred Olympic Grand Prix jumper champion Touch of Class. Since then over 200 Maryland people and horses from 26 different equestrian disciplines have been honored.
