It is so difficult to pick just one winner of The Equiery’s annual Foal Photo Contest but we only have one cover and thus one cover winner. However, these two foals came very very close to making it on the August 2018 cover and we wanted to share them with you, our readers!
Reserve Champion
Foal-owner Dr. Elise Harvey of Sandy Spring hand-delivered a thumb drive with photos of her day-old Norwegian Fjord colt Greystone’s Baron as the photos were too large to send via email. This spunky little guy by Prydarson and out of Jordbear, by Kanda King, melted the hearts of most of the cover voters. This particular photo, taken by Hannah Kleckner of Kennett Square, PA, showed off the foal in an engaging way with nice lighting and a simple background.
Honorable Mention
Lisa Santos of Woodbine submitted three photos of Thaddeus, a Clydesdale/Drum Horse-cross she adopted with his dam Torrie from Gentle Giants Horse Rescue. Out of the three, it was this one of a quiet moment between mom and baby that nearly made our cover. Cover voters loved the nuzzling pose, the colors and clean background.
