Dover Saddlery has announced that it has selected Maryland to launch a new competition medal program for adult amateur riders.   The Dover Adult Amateur Jumper Medal (Dover AAJ Medal) is designed to recognize, reward and incentivize the adult amateur jumper rider competing at 2’9” – 3’ at the regional level.

The new Dover AAJ Medal is not an equitation medal.  Eligible riders will accumulate clear rounds as well as first and second placings for end-of-year Bronze, Silver and Gold Medal awards.

“We are very excited about this innovative concept for recognizing and incentivizing adult amateur riders who compete at the regional level” stated Stephen Day, President and CEO of Dover Saddlery.  “Via this new medal concept, riders can set personal goals and work to achieve their best with their equine partner in the jumper arena and be recognized for achieving those goals.”

“We are happy to be working with the Maryland Horse Shows Association to introduce this pilot program on the regional level and to ensure it is viable and can be replicated prior to a national launch.  The adult amateur rider is an integral part of the horse show market and Dover is pleased to champion this new program concept for adult amateurs,” added Day.

The Dover AAJ Medal is being offered at over 30 regional horse shows in Maryland in 2016 with the endorsement and under the rules of the Maryland Horse Shows Association (MHSA).  Riders do not need to be members of any organization to compete in the Dover Adult Amateur Medal class.
