On Saturday, February 9, firefighter units from three counties arrived at Centerline Farm in Union Bridge in response to calls about a barn fire. They arrived around 4:30p.m. to find the barn 70% engulfed in flames. The roof had already collapsed, trapping and killing all eight horses inside. It took firefighters an hour to get the fire under control and another hour to extinguish the blaze. As of today (Friday, February 15), the cause is still under investigation by the Fire Marshal.

Joyce Moxley and her father Richard own Centerline Farm. The Equiery was able to speak briefly with Joyce on Sunday, February 10. Joyce reported that all eight of their driving and show horses perished as well as several barn cats. She also told The Equiery that neighbors had come by on Sunday to remove and bury the horses and cats.

The Equiery sends its condolences to the Moxleys and will report more on this story as official reports from the fire department are released.
