A good friend of
mine in Poolesville, MD just called me to tell me about your article on First
Secretary (which I have yet to read). I am so thrilled about this. My horse
is a registered Appaloosa by First Secretary. And he is a rescue to boot. I
rescued him six years ago from a auction farmoutside of Charlottesville, Va.
I had a very simple post purchase veterinarian exam done on him on the route
home from picking him up (diseases, worming ,eyes). My expectations for him
where to live happy life from that point on.
I am an event rider
and this Appaloosa is the first Appaloosa I have ever owned. And he is, hands
down, the best horse I have ever had the pleasure to own ride, and compete.
I evented him through Novice and subsequently gave him over to Emily Beshear
(Mastervich) to move up the ranks. His eventing prowess came as a complete and
wonderful surprise to us both.

Secretariat's Nez
(The Nez) has won:
1st, Area 2 Open Novice Championship
3rd, Open Novice East Coast Championships
2nd, Open Training, Virginia Horse Trails
1st, Open Training, Champagne Run at the Park, Kentucky, (finished on Dressage
score of 22)
1st, Area 2 Open Training Championship
9th, Open Preliminary, Fair Hill HT (First time Prelim in the pouring rain,
2nd after Dressage, brilliantly clean, but cautiously slow Cross-country)
1st-Preliminary B, Marlborough Horse Trails.
Doc is just amazing. As he
is not built like an eventing athlete, his events are spaced apart and chosen
carefully as to limit his wear and tear. The goal for 2004 is the Morven Park
CCI*. Look for him around the area.
Thank you for the article. I can't wait to read it.
